Neck pain

Each patient is unique, and circumstances are unique.

Common pathologies I see are wry neck, or discogenic/facet joint related pain. These would need to be diagnosed based on movement.

Another culprit that I find is contributing significantly in our busy lives is upper crossed syndrome. This occurs when sitting in a static position for many hours.

We often present with a poking chin and elevated, tight shoulders.
The causes of this include:

  • Weak neck eccentric (deceleratory) core stabilisers

  • Elongated and weak lower trapezius muscles

  • Overactive and tight upper traps

  • Overactive and tight pectoralis muscles

I can assist you by going through a quick practical exercise program with you.

Clinical evidence shows that 6 counts of 6 reps of core stabiliser exercises, 3 times a week, is the bare minimum required to provide stability.

This is certainly manageable!

Lower back pain

Pathology of the Lumbar Spine Includes:

  • Disc bulging

  • Facet joint immobility

  • Radiculopathy (sciatic nerve pathways)

Common Movement Issue:
Regardless of the condition,
a movement disorder is often present—
either in bending forward or leaning back.

My Flexion Rehab Program Covers:

  • Cognitive rehabilitation

  • Eccentric control of paraspinal muscles

  • Helping you feel safe while bending forward

Two Flexion Patterns:

  1. Moving like a rigid board

  2. Excessive lumbar spine flexion
(due to lack of hip hitching)

✅ I guide you through simple corrective exercises
to fix these movement patterns and relieve pain immediately.

Pain When Leaning Back (Extension):

  • Often due to fear of movement

  • Causes a rigid spine

  • Leads to overly tight paraspinal muscles

Through guided extension mobility exercises,
we can retrain these movements effectively.

Clinical Insight:
Rehabilitating movement patterns
works better than only doing core stability exercises
and shows immediate results in pain elimination.
